“DayX for AntifaOst” Prisoners Shared Communique

The following text is a communiqué from our comrades imprisoned in the context of Day X over the weekend, who wrote this text together in Leipzig Leinestraße Prison:

Stand together!
Against the criminalization of anti-fascist resistance, the attacks on the freedom of assembly and the repression against left-wing politics!

Leipzig, the first weekend of June 2023: With a large contingent of several thousand officers, helicopters, ten water cannons and evacuation tanks, the police prevent a nationwide solidarity demonstration with the antifascists sentenced the Wednesday before in Dresden under §129.
Prepared with a general assembly ban and accompanied by blatant media agitation, hundreds of police and special units attacked a demonstration against the assembly ban on June 3. Over 1000 people were held in a kettle, some for a whole 11 hours until 9:00 in the morning of the following day.
Already on Friday night, the police had tried to enforce this repressive line in Leipzig-Connewitz, but had failed partly because of the resistance of the people.

Why all this? The state shows its teeth in Leipzig not without reason. It is the “Saxon conditions”, but it is also more. Just as for all those who took to the streets in solidarity with Lina and her comrades, June 3 was also an important date for the authorities and the ruling politicians.
While some – in a region teeming with fascists inside and outside the authorities – want to defend the necessity and legitimacy of antifascist self-protection, others wanted to attack, criminalize and break the solidarity and the reference to the “Antifa East trial”.
What started in the courtroom in Dresden should be continued in the streets.
That this shot backfires, proves the big demonstration on Monday evening. Together against the Leipzig conditions.

We were not at this demonstration, even if we would have liked to be. We are the political prisoners from the JVA Leipzig after the weekend. All of us have been arrested and imprisoned on this first weekend of June in Leipzig at different places, with different charges.
If you wanted to put it a little differently, you could say that we are supposed to be the icing on the cake of the police strategy. The crackdown. The confirmation of the media agitation in advance.

But we are not that, we will not be that! We are political people, comrades who think and act in solidarity. We come from different corners of the republic and from different spectrums of the extra-parliamentary left.

We are united by our solidarity with Lina and Co., as well as by our striving for a self-determined anti-fascism.
We are also united by our current situation as political prisoners in the JVA. That’s why we have joined forces to support each other as much as we can and to make solidarity practical in here as well.

That is not always easy. At the moment, we are partly isolated from each other and transferred to different departments. We are working on merging, at least in small groups. Together against isolation.
One comrade was deprived of the necessary medication for his epilepsy by the prison. The prison judge ignored an important doctor’s appointment. The consequence:
An emergency medical service already on Monday evening in the JVA and the transport by RTW to Borna. (So much for the Leipzig prison hospital…) Only by good fortune is the comrade still with us.

Nevertheless, we do not give up hope. Also and just because of the solidarity from outside. Thank you!

Here inside, in all the dreariness, isolation & repression, we will stand up for our common idea of a better, solidary world.
Inside & outside – a common cause. We hold the post!

Freedom for all political prisoners! Freedom for all social prisoners! We are in the right and we will win!

Leipzig, 07.06.2023, the political prisoners of the JVA Leipzig
